Brandon A. Piterniak, 21, of Central Avenue, Cohoes, died suddenly, Thursday, June 22, 2006.
BBrandon A. Piterniak, 21, of Central Avenue, Cohoes, died suddenly, Thursday, June 22, 2006. orn in Albany, he was the beloved son of Patty G. Anderson Rubino of Melrose and Nicholas A. Piterniak III, of Cohoes.  Brandon was a lifelong area resident and was educated in the Mechanicville and Cohoes schools. He was employed in the Recreation Department of the city of Cohoes for two years. Brandon enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

He belonged to the Junior Youth boxing club and was the 2001 unopposed boxing champion. He was an avid NY Yankee and Giant fan. Adored brother of Tyler Rubino of Melrose, cherished maternal grandson of Patricia and Eugene Anderson of Melrose, and treasured paternal grandson of Nicholas and Rosanne Piterniak Jr. of Cohoes. He is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved dog, Taz.

Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Bernard's Church, Cohoes, at 9 a.m.

Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m.
 
 

Joseph J. Nocella

 
Joseph J. Nocella, 95, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at his residence. Born in Cohoes and a lifelong Joe Nocella - During the 1920s, he was well known throughout the Capital District and the New England area as a championship professional boxer. He took pride in the fact that he had boxed at Madison Square Garden, winning all four of his featured boutsresident, he was the son of the late Gerardo and Maria Durso Nocella. He was the husband of the late Agnes Cook Nocella. During the 1920s, he was well known throughout the Capital District and the New England area as a championship professional boxer. He took pride in the fact that he had boxed at Madison Square Garden, winning all four of his featured bouts. He had owned and operated the Mobil service station at the corner of Main and George Sts. in Cohoes for 44 years. He was a former member of the Cohoes K of C and a communicant of St. Rita/Sacred Heart Parish in Cohoes. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Desautels LaCombe Nocella; his children, Jerry (Joyce) Nocella, Marie (Mike) Brooks, Nancy (Bob) Van-Buskirk, all of Cohoes, and Diane (Pat) Wonderford of Wynantskill. He was the brother of the late Frank, Theresa, Cosmo, Filomena and Elizabeth Nocella; grandfather of Christopher Nocella, Lisa Nocella, Michael Brooks III, Matthew Brooks, Vanessa Van-Buskirk and Andrew Van-Buskirk; great-grandfather of Scarlett Sergeev, Jade VanBuskirk, Michael Brooks IV and Mason Brooks; also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home and at 9:00 from St. Rita's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m.
